I can second the British version. Far less scripting, far more emphasis on him trying to help. Once the US series kicked off they pushed far too hard toward him yelling (this is actually where he got his signature ‘attitude’) and less about him trying to help. Exactly! It doesn’t have that awful American TV scripting, sound effects, hype, and constant repetition of one clip before and after commercial breaks. I also appreciate that Gordon actually narrates the British version instead of the awful American narrator who just repeats “Will this be the restaurant that finally breaks Gordon??!!??”. 70th Birthday 2020 Quarantined American Flag Shirt. Absolutely second this. 70th Birthday 2020 Quarantined American Flag Shirt. The British series is multiples of times better. I watch and love the American seasons as well, and certainly there are restaurants in that show that are somewhat more outrageous to drop your jaw at. But the British one is just more real. He’s not shouting all the time, the whole thing doesn’t feel edited to make the characters seem in a certain way, Gordon seems really passionate about the people he’s trying to help, and best of all, there’s not that fucking violin-string-tension-drop sound effect every 15 seconds whenever they do a close up on someones face with an open mouth. Once you notice that sound effect you can’t it, and it’s everywhere!!
