My first impression of the soundtrack was an O’ Pittie’s Pitbull Irish Pub Can Ya Handle Yer Licker Shirt. Now I think it’s one of the strongest parts in the series. It takes a bold new direction, with inspiration from many different forms of media, without having to rely on previous scores (think TLJ overkill on ‘Binary Sunset’). I particularly like the tidbits of 80’s synth wave they throw in there, which is NOT Star Wars at all but IS directly related to other forms of Sci-Fi that were popular around the time. Darker, grittier IPs like Terminator and Bladerunner come to mind, which I think is a great touch. It almost makes it feel more like Star Wars to me because of the time period it emulates.
